How We Read

I read the two articles, "Reading in a Whole New Way" and "Everything Science Knows About Reading on Screens" , and I thought they were very interesting. The first one talked about how the Internet has actually promoted more people to read since it has come to be. The second article talked about how reading on screens actually takes away our ability to comprehend what we are reading.
I do agree with both of those because I do feel like we read more, since in this society now, we are force to use screens constantly for daily life and communication. I do think that it is harder to stay focused and comprehend on a screen rather than a physical writing. That being because on a screen, you have so much more than just the reading. You have ads on each side, and sometimes videos of ads in the middle of the text. Just reading the articles, it was hard to not watch the ad of someone making ice cream that was in the middle of the article. There are also sometimes colors and words moving around the page that cause distraction as well.
Screens can be beneficial though because they are often very interactive. the interactive "Like a Rolling Stone" music video did help me to sit through the entire song, and made it a fun experience.
What medium do you prefer to read, physical or screen?
